How to Use MetaTrader 4 on PC
Step 1: Download and install MT4
- Access the EBC website from your desktop. Go to "Trading", and under Trading Platforms click on "MT4 Download".
- Click the "Download on Windows" button to start downloading.
- Once the download is complete, locate the file in your "Downloads" folder and double-click it to begin the installation. Follow the prompts to install MT4 on your desktop.
Step 2: Log in to your account
- Open MetaTrader 4 on your desktop. You will be required to log in the first time you open the app. Make sure you select the correct server (EBCFinancialGroup KY-Demo or EBCFinancialGroup KY-Live01 ,EBCFinancialGroup KY-Live02).
- If you have an existing trade account, enter your MT4 account and password. If not, you may create a new demo/live account.
- Click OK. You are now logged in to your account.
Step 3: Get to know the MT4 interface
- The MT4 interface is divided into several key areas:
- Market Watch: On the left side of the screen, you will find the "Market Watch" window. Here you can see the real-time prices of different trading instruments shown under "Symbols".
- Chart Window: Here you can see a real-time price chart of the selected instrument.
- You can also right click on the trading instrument and click "Chart Window" to view the real-time price chart.
- Navigator: This section displays your account information and provides access to indicators, scripts, etc.
- Terminal: At the bottom, this section displays your trading history, open positions, and account balance.
Step 4: Show/Hide Specific Instruments
- Method 1 (Show All/Hide All): On the left side of MT4 UI, under the "Market Watch" window, right click the on the window then click on the "Show All/Hide All button to show/hide all trading instruments.
- Method 2 (Show/Hide Specific Instruments): On the left side of MT4, right click the on the window then click on "Symbols", there will be a pop-up with a list of all instruments categories.
- In the pop-up window, you may find the "Show" and "Hide" button on the right. If you wish to hide specific instruments, you may click on the "+" button to have a drop-down list of specific instruments.
- Please note that the symbol beside the instruments tells you that instrument is currently "Shown (Yellow)" or "Hidden (Gray)".
Step 5: Make a trade
- Select a trading instrument: In the "Indicators" window, right-click the currency or instrument you want to trade and select "New Order".
- A new window will open where you can set the trading parameters: lot size, stop loss and take profit, trade type, etc. When you are ready, click "Buy" or "Sell". Please note that trading involves significant risk, and you should only trade with capital that you can afford to lose.
Step 6: Monitor your transactions
- Open Positions: In the "Terminal" window at the bottom, click on the "Trade" tab. Here you will see all of your current open positions, including details such as entry price, trade size, and current profit and loss.
- Modify or close a trade: Right-click on an open position and select "Modify" or "Close Order". In the new window, adjust your stop loss or take profit levels, or close the trade as required.
Step 7: Use tools and indicators
- Adding indicators: To add a technical indicator to your chart, click on "Insert" in the menu bar and then "Indicators". Select the desired indicator and adjust its parameters as needed.
- Drawing Tools: To use drawing tools like trend lines or Fibonacci retracements, click "Insert", then "Lines".
